Wisconsin Wetlands Association
Who We Are:
Wisconsin Wetlands Association is a statewide science-based education and advocacy non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, restoration and enjoyment of Wisconsin's wetlands. The organization is continually expanding its outreach program to citizens within the Great Lakes region. Activities include:
  • Providing information, advice, contacts and services to citizens throughout the state who contact WWA with concerns about local development projects that impact wetlands
  • Maintaining a statewide network of citizens interested and involved in wetland protection, the "Wetland Watch Network"
  • Monitoring and researching activities that impact wetlands statewide, including new and proposed legislation and DNR Rules
  • Serving as a wetland information center to inform citizens of regional or local development proposals, permit applications, and legislative actions that may impact wetland and water resources
  • Training citizens in techniques of wetland protection through "wetland watch workshops"; Producing wetland conservation publications that are useful to citizens and agency personnel
  • Taking a lead role in advocacy for wetland protection.


As the Wisonsin Hub, the Wisconsin Wetlands Association provides local Great Lakes focused organizations with the following:

  • GLAHN grant funding information, applications, etc.
  • Assistance in obtaining involvement and benefits from the Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Directory project- upon request
  • Coordinating wetland restoration workshops in key locations, in collaboration with local, regional and statewide partners.
  • Running a series of "farmer education" workshops on wetland conservation.
  • Completing and circulating a "Wetland Resources Directory" Wisconsin.
  • Coordinating a purple loosestrife bio-control program in coastal counties, in partnership with the Wisconsin DNR and local conservation entities.
