Water institute gets $2 million for expansion

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Great Lakes Wisconsin
Aquatic Technology and Environmental Research Institute
will receive $2 million over the next five years to expand
its aquatic biotechnology research and launch its Freshwater
The Greater Milwaukee Foundation is contributing $1 million,
while UWM's Graduate School will give a matching $1 million.
The institute will add three scientists in molecular
biology and genomics, bioinformatics, and bioengineering.
It also will develop the nation's first graduate program
in freshwater management, funding 20 graduate fellowships.
