The Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Network & Fund
(GLAHNF) is dedicated to providing information and funding to grassroots
organizations who are working to protect and restore the aquatic habitats
of the Great Lakes basin. GLAHNF has developed themes in order to focus
attention on specific issues. The current GLAHNF theme is wetlands.

Two-thirds of Great Lakes wetlands have been lost!
The Great Lakes basin is home to millions
of acres of wetlands, unique ecosystems that provide critical habitat
for plants and animals as well as playing an important role in maintaining
our water quality. Major threats to the remaining Great Lakes wetlands
are agriculture, development and recreation demands as well as recent
efforts to weaken existing wetland protections. This section of the Great
Lakes Directory is focused on articles relating to wetlands and wetland
protection.
