Outreach Educator
Primary
Objective: To develop, conduct, coordinate
and lead International
Wolf Center's educational outreach in the Twin Cities and beyond. Note:
This is a new
Twin
Cities - based position for the organization.
Summary:
The educator is responsible for the development,
implementation and monitoring of plans and strategies
to provide education services consistent with the International
Wolf Center's
mission. The educator works closely with the Information
& Education Director (based at the organization’s
Ely educational center) to ensure efficiency and coordination
with the organization's existing program and resources;
and with the Communications Director to ensure an integrated
approach. Note:
the outreach educator is the lead for programs and events
that are content/program-driven; the Communications Director
leads on those that are promotional or exposure driven
(no formal education programs).
The outreach educator supports membership, development,
visitation and program participation objectives.
Responsibilities:

Develops,
implements and monitors an annual workplan and budget.
·
Develops, coordinates and
leads educational programming in the Twin Cities (priority)
and beyond the State of Minnesota
(secondarily).
·
Assists Comm. Director
in building, growing and training a volunteer pool
·
Coordinates/networks with
educators from other agencies in building program opportunities
·
Coordinates with International
Wolf Center
staff in program development/ resources/reporting
·
Travel to venues as needed
·
Serves as part of an education
team that includes the Information & Education Director/
Program Specialist / Information Specialist
·
Plan, implement, evaluate
the upgrade of existing Twin Cities Speakers Bureau program;
serves as liaison to Twin City’s Speaker's Bureau representatives
·
Develops wolf programs,
classes and presentations that stimulate viewers, provide
rich content and builds support and visibility for the
International
Wolf Center
in the Twin
Cities and
other new markets; capitalize on regional resources.
·
Explores the possibility
of wildlife festivals /Twin Cities
based bus trips to Ely and other program ideas
·
Build support and visibility
through various media for Ely/educational programs, membership,
and development opportunities.
Reporting/Coordinating
Structure:
·
Reports to Executive Director
(Twin Cities)
·
Coordinates with Information
and Education Director (Ely) and Communications Director
(Twin Cities)
Qualifications:
Self starter; outstanding communicator;
knowledge of wolves and the Twin Cities a plus; environmental
education and/or wildlife biology background; proven teaching
skills; willingness to travel; work weekends/night as
venues dictate; media savvy, high energy; strong networker
inside and outside the organization; willing to support
non-advocacy mission; commitment to environmental education
and conservation. Not
intimidated by developing this new position.
