bill seeks dunes protection

Michigan's sand dunes would be protected from
mining and a state fund created to preserve them, if the
Legislature approves a bill introduced by Sen. Leon Stille,
would phase out sand dune mining in Michigan over a 10-year-period
and double the mining surveillance fees to establish a
state Sand Dune Protection Fund.
