Save the Dunes Conservation Fund

Who We Are: The Save the Dunes Conservation Fund was established in 1994 to restore and protect the environment of the Indiana Dunes. Among its activities the Conservation Fund has restored a foredune on Gary's Lake Michigan shoreline, has assisted the Minority Health Coalition of LaPorte County on projects in the area of a Superfund site, and has worked with teachers, individuals, and agencies to monitor the health of local streams and waterways.

As the IN Hub, the Save the Dunes Conservation Fund provides local Great Lakes focused organizations with the following:

  • GLAHN grant funding information, applications, etc.
  • Assistance in obtaining involvement and benefits from the Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Directory project- upon request
  • Provide information and/or advice to members and the general public regarding environmental issues and problems.
  • Meetings/trainings with the members of the Indiana Hub to discuss issues, goals, and strategies, and/or provide training on an issue of current relevance as identified with input from members.
  • Maintaining a database of Indiana Hub members to distribute issue alerts, updates, and announcements of activities promoting aquatic habitat education, restoration, and protection.
  • Providing technical input and encouraging public participation in the development of TMDLs.
  • Launching a wetland rules campaign.
  • Surveying hub members to determine how to provide better servcies.
