Who We Are: The
Lake Michigan Federation works to restore fish and wildlife
habitat, conserve land and water, and eliminate toxics
in the watershed of America's largest lake. We achieve
these through education, research, law, science, economics,
and strategic partnerships. Understanding the lake is
easy. Lake Michigan faces three general challenges:
- Restoring fish & wildlife habitat
- Stopping toxic pollution
- Conserving land & water
The Federation believes so strongly that public
understanding of problems is the first step toward
restoring the lake that we've structured our entire
organization around these three basic issues. We
call these three departments "Waves" because restoring
Lake Michigan health requires ongoing, persistent
efforts by citizens, volunteers, and staff to understand
problems and provide constructive solutions just
as waves continuously roll toward the shore.
