Field Manager - Sierra Club Organizing Department - Minneapolis or other Upper
Midwest location TBD The Sierra Club, the nation's oldest, largest and most
influential grassroots environmental organization, is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, skilled
individual for the position of Senior Field Manager based in Minneapolis or
other Upper Midwest location. Responsibilities include directing, planning
and managing our organizing campaigns in Upper Midwest states including the
National Coal Campaign, Environmental Justice Program, and the Blue Green Alliance
(a collaboration with labor). The Senior Field Manager provides experienced
leadership and strategic planning, works in close cooperation with volunteer
leaders; manages organizing staff and provides guidance for activist training,
grassroots public education, legislative action and electoral campaign activity,
and represents Sierra Club to the public. The successful candidate will
have at least 3-5 years' experience in development of strategies and programs.
Experience should include planning and managing campaigns and staff -- including
grassroots organizing, coalition building and media relations -- in the environmental
movement, political campaigns or similar organizations. Strong demonstrated communications
skills, knowledge of environmental issues, demonstrated ability to work effectively
with volunteers and to mobilize community activism. Proficient computer skills. To
